INSIDIOUS
(1) In this trailer you can clearly see that there is a normal layout of a family, consisting of a mother and father and two young boys. On this trailer it gives away quite a bit of the narrative of the film. Such as that there is a evil demon thing inside the mind of one of the little boys, and that he inherited this from his father... As the exact same thing was happening to the father when he was younger. In this the boy's soul interacts with a demon (evil spirit type thing) and that if the demon stays inside him any longer then the boy would die. Whilst the demon was inside of the little boy, he looked like he was in a comma. As that is why the boys whole family thought he was in a deep comma.
(2) In the movie there is a family which consists of mother and father with two young boys, and they have realised that something is wrong with one of the boys. In the trailer it is in a non chronological order, meaning all scenes are mixed and muddles up and are not following the order of the actual movie. Whereas in the movie the family don't know whats wrong with the boy, however the trailers first shot is a scene which is in the middle of the movie and that scene's is when they know what is wrong with the some and then in the specific shot they are showing the audience how they can cure the boy. There is one shot in this trailer which you can see the whole of the setting, which is in the boys room. In this shot you can see the little boy on the floor, and that there has been something in his room as there us a red hand print on the white bed covers. You can clearly tell that this hand print is not the boys. There are NO voice overs in the trailer, as there is just dialogue of certain quotes the characters say in the movie itself.
(3) The order of the narrative shots that are used in the trailer are in non chronological order. We know this as the first shot in the trailer is a scene from the movie which in the movie is shown half way through it and its a scene about the fact that everyone knows what is happening to the little boy and they are trying to cure him. However at the beginning of the movie no one knows what is actually wrong with the boy.
(4) There are only 72 shot which are shown in the trailer.
(5) There is alot of fast pace editing which is being used through out the whole of the trailer, this created plenty of tension for the audience as looking at it all so fast teh audience might miss certain parts and would hook them into watching the film. It creates a lot of suspense as well as tension, as it makes you wonder if the creature type thing is in the house or the boy.
(6) The trailer contains a few black screens, and a lot of repition of the title. This is showing that as the son has inherited this disese type thing from his dad, the chirldren of the son can inherit it aswell so it may carry on for generations. And would not be forgotton like the title they kept showing us the title 'INSIDIOUS' as they don't want the audience to forget what film the trailer is about.
(7)
(8) The sound used in the trailer was mainly a thuding and a screeching noise, to reprsent that there is a lot of nasty things happening in the film itself. Doing this sets the ambience that it is a horror. Also there is a background noise of a grandfather clock 'tick tock' which tells the audience that the boy and father are under a lot of pressure as they might be running out of time.
(9) In the trailer there are mainly mid shots, this way you can see the characters but also the surroundings which they are in. Also close ups so this way you can see the expressions of their faces. Using these shots and angles creates tension as they know something bad is going to happen and suspense at why are tehy making that expression?.
