Poster Research 1

The genre of this movie poster 'Scream 4' is horror. We done this as research as it relates to our genre which is horror/thriller. This poster was a good one for our research as it it simple and not too busy, this way you don't loose focus on what the main thing is in the poster. It gives the audience and idea of what the film 'scream 4' as it has images of the characters and the bottom and their names at the top.The background to this poster is pure pitch black which creates a mysterious effect.The colour scheme is red,white and black. To me this shows is that the black represents dark night and dull, whereas the red represents blood. And the alignment of the title is slap bang in the middle seeing as this is the first thing the audience.

The black background makes you emphasise on the image even more, as the mask creates tension also itself as the bottom of the mask turns into a knife. Doing this will atract the target audience, the little glow effect on the bottom of the mask where it is a knife emplies that it is sharp. As this is the weapong being used through out the who film. As the knife and the mask has such a glowing spooky effect, this is saying that this is the main prop in the whol movie and that just thsi one thing can do so much damage.

A part of the poster, is the charachters which are shown at the bottom of the poster. All images of the characters are shown in a close up shot, thsi way you can see the expressions of their faces. You can see that the main image is of the woman in the front and that her face expressiona are like she is scared, yet two giurls at the back look all 'smug' and they have something to hide as they are the only oone that are not looking staright ahead. Tha fact that it is in a V shape, it shows us whom has the most power going from weakest to the strongest person.

The title 'SCRE4M' has been placed right in the middle, and also it is in line with the mouth on the mask which shows us that there will be a lot of screaming throught out the movie as the mask looks likes it is screaming aswell. And the number '4' in the title is white whereas all the other words are white, this way it empahsises on the fact that it is the 4th one. Above the title it says 'A flim by Wes Craven'. This can get more viewers as people may like this guys movie, as tehy proablly watches his movies before and will think that his others was good, so this one might be good.

From this poster you can cleary see that this is part of a sequial as the A in SCRE4M as been replaced with a 4 showing that this is the 4th one out all the sequials. This will attracat more people as they might have watched scream 1-3. This can immply that all scream movies will get scarier and scarier.

At the top of the posters there are names of the main characters that have been in a movie, and also in other movies before this. As you can cleary see the first name is small and font colour is white, whereas the last name is bigger and in red. This shows us that if you recognise the name then it will hook you to watch the movie as you have seen then before.

Finally at the bottom of the poster there is a quote saying 'New Rules. New Decade.’  The New Rules bit is in red and the New Decade bit is in white. When it says new rules this can imply that there is going be many new ways on how the killer, is going to murder people. Yet New Decade can mean that something different is going to happen, compared to scream 1-3.
